Saving Money for Travelling

Posted in : Travel on by : admin Comments:

If you’re looking to travel for several months or a year, you’re going to need to budget wisely. It can take a lot of determination to save for travelling, but of course the amount, depends on how far you’re travelling and the countries you’re going to be spending time in. If you’re heading over to Thailand, Burma or Mongolia, then you’ll be happy to hear that living costs are cheap, and whilst flights may be rather pricy, you can get around on trains, and actually live off £5 per week. There are many hotels and hostels with decent facilities, whist food is remarkably cheap. Countries like America, New Zealand, Canada and Australia tend to be a bit more on the expensive side, and you may have to save a significant amount, especially if you’re looking to spend time in a quality hotel or apartments in cities and built up towns. Make sure you put thought into the amount you need, and keep to a money-saving plan.

Iceberg Watching

Posted in : Travel on by : admin Comments:

Icebergs are a large piece of ice which has broken off of an ice shelf or glacier, and then gone into the ocean. These pieces of ice are all fresh water ice, and can be quite massive. Some of them have been known to weigh more than half a million tonnes. You can actually watch these being created on some holiday tours around the Antarctic, from Canada to Greenland. When they fall off the ice shelf, they can create massive waves, so you need to make sure that you are in a large boat. Icebergs are a natural phenomena, but they are growing in number as the glaciers move toward the ocean faster then before, due to the changes we’ve made to our environment; global warming.Still, it makes for an amazing spectacle, one which if you ever get the opportunity to experience you shouldn’t pass up.

Finding a Great Holiday Location

Posted in : Holidays on by : admin Comments:

Finding a great holiday location which you can go back to again and again and still get something out of is a great plan. For me, my ideal holiday location is Brazil, with its wonderful beaches and great Nightclubs. Once you have found your place, you should consider your options going forward. If you really like a location, and intend to go back over and over again, then staying in a hotel may be too expensive an option. Owning a holiday home can actually be a cheaper alternative, so long as you are prepared to put the effort into making it available for rent. A holiday home can give you far greater freedom in the country of your choice, and you can live a bit more like one of the locals, at least for a few months of the year. You will always have the option of moving there full time once you’ve retired, which is another big benefit of owning a holiday home.

Ecotourism

Posted in : Holidays on by : admin Comments:

If you are tired of the same old holiday, ecotourism gives you a chance to contribute to a conservation effort. It is important that we make a collective effort to stop damage to our environment. During your ecoholiday, you can help with endangered species, or with invasive species, and deforestation. All of these are important to the safety and security of our environment. An ectourism trip isn’t just helping conservationists, it is also just another holiday, with the same opportunities for relaxation and luxury, but you just spend half your time helping out. It can be a very enriching experience, which makes a nice change from your standard holiday. There are ecotourism opportunities around the world, in many different cultures, climates, and environments. You could find yourself helping to tag marine life with radio beacons, so that you can determine their species migration, and hopefully their breeding grounds. Or you could end up doing the same for endangered species in the Amazon or on the plains on Africa.

Preparing for an Antarctic Expedition

Posted in : Travel on by : admin Comments:

Rather than looking at hot summer holiday locations and travel to seaside locations, we’re looking at those who want to take an exhilarating expedition in the Antarctic. If you’re a bit of a daredevil or you just want to see a completely different side to the world as we know it, then you have to be mentally and physically prepared. Even in the summer, conditions will range from 41-56°F, so you have to make sure you wear the correct clothing. Specialist clothing is key and the provider is likely to offer you the necessary equipment as it is not just something you can pick up in your high street store. You also need to train well, and prepare yourself for the conditions, and making sure you’re fit enough and medically sound can be extremely important. Remember the Antarctic is a harsh environment, and it should be treated seriously.
